The MIDI Innovation Awards are run by the MIDI Association, NAMM and Music Hackspace, and they exist to put a light on people doing something genuinely new with MIDI.
MIDISketch is one person's answer to a problem most producers just live with: expression is something you are supposed to perform, on hardware, or program one number at a time. Here you draw it. Pitch is a line you sketch, and every note carries its own.
