Development Roadmap
MIDISketch is in active development. Here is a look at what we are building next to make the ultimate MIDI expression tool.
The Next 6 Months
iOS & iPad Builds Planned
MIDISketch on iPad, rebuilt for touch: pinch to zoom, long-press menus, and Apple Pencil pressure mapped straight to velocity. AUv3 so it drops into GarageBand, AUM, and Cubasis.
MIDI 2.0 Output Planned
Per-note controllers at MIDI 2.0 resolution, alongside the MPE and MIDI 1.0 output MIDISketch ships with today.
In the Works
FX Chains & Mixer In Progress
Host effect chains after your synth inside MIDISketch. The chain engine and strip UI are already in early access builds; mixer polish and visualizers are next.
Bend Mapping Planned
Route your drawn pitch and expression to anything: a CC, a hosted synth parameter, or an MPE dimension, each with its own transfer curve and range.
Spectrogram Take Layers Planned
Record your playback straight onto the roll as a spectrogram, and stack takes as color-coded layers to compare them visually.
Smarter Simplify Planned
Point reduction that respects musical structure: fewer invented curves, points that land where the music actually moves.
Performance Optimizations In Progress
Continued focus on lowering CPU overhead and making the plugin as lightweight as possible, even with massive projects.
Compatibility Labeling In Progress
Clear, exhaustive lists and testing for exactly which synths and DAWs are fully supported, partially supported, or unsupported. The first pass lives on the compatibility page.
UI Polish & Customization Planned
Major visual upgrades to the interface, smooth micro-animations, and quality of life improvements to make the workflow even faster.
MIDIScout Integration TBD
Browse and audition your MIDI library from inside MIDISketch, then drop what you find straight onto the roll. Timing to be announced.
